The Firefox logo isn’t a fox.

The English word for the red panda is, yes you guessed it, 'Firefox. This is where the browser gets its name from. This means that the Logo is actually a red panda, not a fox. According to NeoSmart Technologies, It looks like a raccoon, eats like a panda, it's related to neither, and is a dark shade of reddish-brown.

The fox hugging the globe in our logo is 100% fox. Firefox IS a nickname for red pandas, though, so they also have our hearts as a mascot.

The red panda is Mozilla's mascot as they used to have a Firefox Live page where you could watch a few red pandas on camera.

it is actually a red panda. So is the one on the Mozilla Firefox Logo.

Mozilla long ago moved the Firefox icon to a more stylized look, but the newest version is another step away from the original drawing of a fox wrapped around the globe. Even though the fox's face is now in view and its limbs have vanished, it's still easily recognized.

Firefox Is Faster and Leaner Than Chrome. Everything changed with the release of Firefox 57, also known as Firefox Quantum. At its debut, Mozilla claimed that Firefox Quantum ran twice as fast as the previous version of Firefox, while requiring 30 percent less RAM than Chrome.
